Family Dentistry
Bardstown Family Dentistry addresses the dental care needs of our patients through every stage of life. We take an all-encompassing approach to the health of your smile, using state-of-the-art digital X-rays and scanners to detect cavities, gum disease, and other oral health issues.
We also work closely with our young patients and get to know them throughout their childhood, helping them establish the foundation for a lifetime of healthy and happy smiles.
What can you expect at a family dentist?
We take a proactive approach to your oral health. We believe a healthy smile is a cornerstone to overall health and wellness. Using digital X-rays and scanning, we conduct routine oral health exams, checking for cavities, gum disease, and other abnormalities, while providing prompt treatment.
What are our dental services for children?
We closely monitor our pediatric patients and watch their oral development, referring them to specialists if orthodontic treatment is necessary when they’re older. We also customize sports bite-guards for athletic patients.

Restorative Dentistry
By combining all of our areas of expertise, we help our patients maintain their natural teeth and oral health. But when our patients lose or are at risk of losing their teeth, we have solutions. With restorative dentistry, we can replace missing or damaged teeth and restore the structure, function, and health of your smile.
Our restorative dental procedures include:
- Tooth Extractions
- Cavity Fillings
- Root Canals
- Dental Crowns & Bridges
- Dentures
What are dental crowns and bridges?
Dental bridges work similarly to crowns, only they protect and restore multiple teeth that are adjacent to one another.
What are the different types of dentures?
Traditional dentures sit on top of the gums and replace all teeth. They are removable and are usually placed a couple of months after extracting the teeth.
Partial dentures are also removable but only replace some missing teeth while the patient still has some of their natural teeth intact.
Locator dentures are a set of dental implants that are surgically implanted in the jaw and provide stability for a permanent denture appliance. Locator dentures come in full or partial sets.
Not sure which type of denture is right for you? Contact us today to schedule a consultation with one of our dentists.

Preventive Dentistry
We all sigh in relief when the dentist tells us “no cavities detected.” While having zero cavities is a good start, there are many other ways we help our patients optimize their oral health to prevent other problems from arising.
Routine teeth cleanings are essential to removing plaque from teeth, protecting the enamel, and removing gingivitis. But we also use state-of-the-art X-ray equipment to identify early signs of gum disease, oral cancer, and other abnormalities, including issues pertaining to the temporomandibular joints (TMJ) and the oral cavity.
What are the signs of periodontitis (gum disease)?
- Red or purplish gums
- Pain when chewing
- Swollen gums
- Gums that bleed easily
- Receding gum line
- Loose teeth
- Bad breath
If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, please contact us today to schedule an appointment with a dentist.
What are the signs of sleep apnea & TMJ disorders?
Sleep apnea causes lapses in breathing while a person sleeps. It occurs when the muscles in the back of the throat narrow and close a person’s airway while they sleep. This can lead to deep snoring, snorting, or choking. In addition to loud snoring and gasping, sleep apnea can cause morning headaches, daytime sleepiness, dry mouth, and irritability.
TMJ disorders occur as the result of teeth grinding, jaw clenching, or when there is injury or inflammation to the temporomandibular joint. This joint connects the jawbone with the skull, and when impacted, can cause pain, tenderness in the jaw, ear aches, facial pain, and jawlock.

Implant Dentistry
Are you missing teeth or at risk of losing a tooth? Dental implants provide a long-term solution for missing teeth and can successfully renew the function, appearance, and health of your smile. They also prevent further bone loss and can restore a person’s ability to chew and speak properly.
We work closely with an oral surgeon in Bardstown, KY, and offer dental implants for patients who have one missing tooth, multiple missing teeth, or those who are in need of dentures.
